At the end of a story about the photography and the future of film yesterday, Here & Now host Jeremy Hobson asked listeners to tag hereandnowradio on Instagram to show us the best photo they’ve ever taken – and whether it was digital or film. Trying to “capture life” in a single photo is not as straightforward as three nursing students at Kwantlen Polytechnic University might have thought. Is it a photo of a sunset, people playing on the beach, hiking, horseback riding, laughing or eating? The 48 competitors in the all-female contest surfed for pride and, more importantly, to raise money for the David's Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation, which has helped approximately 400 families in the area. Her photo "Father Daughter Kissing" was chosen as the winner of the People - Small Town or Rural Lifestyle category. All of the winning photos are posted on Grinnell Emily DeMaslo, 16, of Fairfield today was named Best Overall Winner in the Westport Library’s third annual Teen Photography Contest. She won a $500 savings account from sponsor Bankwell Bank. The competition, judged by Westport photographers Larry Silver .
